Lesson 4 – Hygiene for Hospitality

HYGIENE FOR HOSPITALITY

Hygiene standards can be regarded as the rules that all staff have to abide by to ensure that their actions will not endanger any person who makes use of their services. The main aim of Hygiene Standards is to keep the environment clean and avoid contamination or transmission of bacteria and viruses.

Good hygiene also serves to create a positive guest experience and is regarded as an essential part of good service.

Good personal hygiene is important in every aspect of the hospitality industry but is especially important when you are working with food and beverage to avoid transferring germs or bacteria. Washing hands properly and ensuring correct handling of ingredients and equipment are vital steps in this process. Wearing of masks, sanitising and social distancing is also extremely important if required by COVID-19 protocols.
